Rahul Gandhi at IIIT Amethi: IT has a role to play to ensure connectivity

Congress General Secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi while speaking at the occasion of the convocation ceremony at IIIT Amethi and said that it should be our mission to ensure connectivity among the people of our country.
Rahul Gandhi said “So what is your role as IT practitioners? I asked many of your friends and most of them told that they would like to do jobs. What you do not realize is that while you are doing jobs, you are building the bridge that is going to connect these two Indias. Some of you would be more interested in your jobs and may not be much interested about what is happening in the country. But while you are doing your job, while developing software or any other IT products, while working on computers, without knowing it, you are building that bridge. There may be people who are taking special interest in the national affairs. And they may be doing works in that regard apart from their job. Anyhow, you have already started the process of connecting our nation and I want to thank you for that,” commented Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi at IIIT Amethi: Question yourself to gather more knowledge

Congress General Secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi spoke at the occasion of the convocation ceremony at IIIT Amethi and said that one should question yourself to gather more knowledge.
“I had mentioned that there was a time I was sitting where you are sitting now. When I was sitting there I thought that I have the answers for all the questions. But later I knew that that is not the fact. I am very passionate about my ideas. Even today I am very passionate. Now I realise that the most important thing one should do is to question one’s ideas. I found it in my life that when I am most certain about something, when I am hundred percent sure that this is the way to do it, very soon I find that I was wrong and there is actually another way to do it and a better way”.

Rahul Gandhi at IIIT Amethi: Knowledge is created by the destruction of knowledge

“Knowledge is created by the destruction of knowledge” said Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a convocation ceremony at IIIT Amethi. “In order to question one self, one has to listen to him first because once you do not listen to others, you cannot question yourself”.
“There were a lot of things in my mind which I thought were correct were destroyed now and I no more believe in those. Those were replaced by new ideas and I am absolutely certain that some of the ideas which I had today may get destroyed tomorrow. And that is a good thing because none of us are god. We do not have eternal knowledge or eternal understanding. Life is moving forward and constantly questioning your ideas and thoughts.” added the Congress leader.

Rahul Gandhi – leader of aam aadmi

The Congress certainly is in good spirits as they have now a new young, visionary, energetic and progressive mass leader in Rahul Gandhi, who instead of being intoxicated by the power and never hungry for any media hype, has the capability and interest to understand the people and realizing their issues. He always maintained that that leaders should go to the people, stay with them, share their meals and drink the polluted water from their well to realize the real issues of the poor. It is a well known fact that Rahul Gandhi, on many occasions, even set examples by doing what he has been preaching. He had surprised many with his unscheduled sudden visits to villages, interacting with the locals and even staying at their huts. The young leader also made it a routine to visit places whenever any untoward incidents took place.

He had visited Forbesganj in Bihar and Mawal in Maharashtra where people died of police firing. When Kalka mail accident took place he immediately visited the hospital to meet the accident victims. He had visited Bharatpur in Rajasthan where ten people from Muslim community were killed in the clashes with the police. Undoubtedly, these interventions helped to bring confidence among the people and gave them a hope that there is someone who stands with them and helps them in crisis.

The important thing is that Rahul Gandhi ensured that he delivers too. He visited Bhatta-Parsaul and other villages in Uttar Pradesh when the lands of poor farmers were wrongly acquired by the Mayawati Government. Rahul Gandhi immediately visited there to realize the seriousness of the issues and took the initiative to draft a new Land Acquisition Bill by the cabinet. When he noticed the threat of Japan Encephalitis in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, he immediately intervened and a team led by the Union Health Minister was sent to take stock of the situation.

Further, he visited drought-hit Bundelkhand region to ascertain himself the gravity of the situation and made sure that a Rs. 3000 cr relief package for Bundelkhand is sanctioned by the Centre. He properly took initiative to release a Rs. 6000 cr package to the Bunkars in Banaras. Rahul Gandhi played a role to force the Central Government to take a decision that not only ministers but their siblings and relatives also shall have to disclose their assets. As per the information gathered through RTI, in a total of seventeen letters he sent to the Prime Minister, he had addressed this issue and also several others including the relief and reconstruction efforts undertaken by the Government in flood-ravaged Leh, the problems of Sri Lankan Tamils and Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu.

Rahul Gandhi rightly asserts that India can achieve much through its young blood. He also has been insisting that unless democracy reaches the grass root level, country cannot progress. His father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took India to the top list of the fast growing countries in the world with his modern vision and now his son follows his legendary father’s footsteps to see the country scaling new heights.

Rahul Gandhi at IIIT Amethi: Knowledge resides closest to the problem

Congress General Secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi spoke at the occasion of the convocation ceremony at IIT Amethi and said that the knowledge resides closest to where the problem is.
“So my humble request to you students is that when you are absolutely sure about something, you please question yourself because you may be probably wrong. The other thing I want to tell you about the nature of knowledge. In India this is the big problem” said Rahul Gandhi.
“I could fortunately travel many places across the country and meet a lot of people. So I see multiple perspectives. I could very early found, before talking to poor persons, farmers, other sections, engineers, doctors, that every one’s point of view is important” added the Congress leader.
“You may be good at IT but if you go to a farmer he can tell you much about farming. Knowledge resides closest to where the problem is. So if you are a farmer, you will be having the better knowledge about the farmers. Same is the case with IT. Generally what could see is that the more you are closer towards the problem, you will have better knowledge about that problem” said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi at IIIT Amethi: To gather knowledge, go towards the problem

Congress General Secretary and MP from Amethi Rahul Gandhi spoke at the occasion of the convocation ceremony at IIT Amethi and said that to gather more knowledge one should move more close towards the problem.
Rahul Gandhi said “So the first thing I told you was to question yourself. And the second thing is that to gather knowledge, go towards the problem. That is what I did experience. When I go to a poor person’s house and asks about the things he does, I get the knowledge. So I realize that he knows better than me about his nature of job. So it is very important to respect the person’s views who is much closer to the problem”.
“In order to respect the person’s views who is much closer to the problem, you will have to give equal status to that person. There is a feeling among the politicians in India that they are the most knowledgeable persons. Understanding the knowledge is built on the destruction of the knowledge. In our ancient scripts there is a trinity- creator, preserver and destroyer. There is a reason behind it. You cannot have creation without destruction. You cannot have destruction without creation. And you cannot have either of these two without preservation” added the young Congress MP.
“And that is the same with knowledge. To get the current knowledge you will have to destroy the existing knowledge. To destroy the existing knowledge you will have to question yourself. You will have to learn to question yourself and question the persons around you. The more you do that the more knowledgeable you will become” concluded Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi: Muslims were ignored by Maya, Mulayam

Attacking SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati for overlooking the issues of the Muslim minority in the state, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said these non-Congress leaders have been grossly neglecting the Muslim aspirations. These parties have been using the minority community for gaining power in the state but done nothing for their welfare over the last twenty two years, said Rahul Gandhi while speaking at a public meeting in UP for the recently held assembly polls. Congress (I) has given them 4.5 per cent quota for reservations in government and educational jobs, Rahul Gandhi said adding that this will go a long way to help them in improving their social-economic conditions. Muslim minority is already annoyed with Mulayam Singh Yadav for aligning with former BJP Chief Minister Kalyan Singh during last elections for petty political gains. The announcement of 4.5 per cent quota has now completely deflated Maulayam’s Cycle. Both of these leaders – Mulayam and Mayawati – are now making a point that 4.5 per cent quota in insufficient. But Rahul Gandhi asked if it is so then why these leaders did not give any quota to Muslim minorities during their tenure in office. Highlighting that these leaders are only interested in votes of the Muslims, Rahul Gandhi assured that a review would be carried out for increasing the quota further based on population of the Muslims in the state.

Rahul Gandhi exposes the Scholarship scam under Maya regime

Blaming Mayawati for bad state of educational system in the state, Congress (I) has said rampant scams in her government did not spare even poor students’ scholarship scheme. She is playing with the education and career of students of Uttar Pradesh, said Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi while campaigning for the recently held Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh. Under higher education scholarship scheme UP government allotted funds of Rs 500 crores. But out of this amount Rs 400 crore disappeared through leaking pipes in connivance with private educational institutions, said Rahul Gandhi. There are around 700 private professional colleges in the state. State government is paying fees of SC/ST and poor students in the form of scholarship direct to the private institutions. But private colleges are also charging fees from those students. Thus while students have been deprived of the benefits of scholarship, she has helped private colleges to fill their coffers, said Congress (I) leader. Pointing out that career of the youth is more important, Rahul Gandhi wanted to establish more institutions of higher education in the state.

At a time when the government is increasingly under attack on the issue of corruption, the Youth Congress led by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has emphasized the need to tackle the menace on a priority basis and wanted the Congress led UPA Government to act more aggressively on setting up of Lokpal.

It has also sought sweeping changes in the laws related to corruption cases to ensure punishment to corrupt public servants. The political resolution passed at the three-day national executive meet of Youth Congress at Hubli in Karnataka also asked for the setting up of special courts to try only corruption-specific cases.

The resolution recommended “more stringent penal provisions” to punish the corrupt public servants by amending the Prevention of Corruption Act. The youth outfit of the Congress has also demanded that the “code of criminal procedure (CrPC) should be amended in order to ensure speedy disposal of corruption-related cases. The political resolution also demanded that “the Central government should move more aggressively on Constitutionally guaranteed Lokpal bill”.

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had last year made a strong pitch in the Lok Sabha for constitutional status to Lokpal. Rahul Gandhi, who is AICC general in charge of Youth Congress said that people at the last point need to empowered to fight corruption.

Addressing the IYC workers during the meet, Rahul Gandhi said that the problem is not with our laws but with the implementation of our laws. The Congress leader felt that decentralisation will go a long way to solve corruption.

Rahul Gandhi also held that corruption is talked about more these days because people’s awareness has increased and more information is available because of RTI, which was brought by the Congress-led UPA government. Rahul Gandhi also commented that the legislation has empowered the common man.

Rahul Gandhi observed during the meet that the “common man’s voice needs to be heard in policy making”. The IYC executive also passed a resolution, demanding that the Congress recommend to all states ruled by the party to reduce state tax on petrol.

In another resolution, the delegates at the national executive demanded that the politicisation of school syllabus be stopped, appointment to key institutions which affect educational policies be closely monitored and it should be ensured that such institutions are not influenced by a pronounced Right or Left agenda.

In a departure from past practice, the IYC this time invited senior Congress leaders to address the national executive meet and interact with young leaders.

Non-Congress governments increased miseries of the poor in UP: Rahul Gandhi

Slamming the non-Congress parties for indulging in vote bank politics of caste and religion and doing nothing to address the issues of the people, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi had said that dalits, poor, OBCs and minorities have suffered most under BSP, SP and BJP rule in UP during the last twenty two years. These non-Congress parties only increased the misery of the people, Rahul Gandhi had said while campaigning for the recently held UP Assembly elections. The people’s issues remain unattended; there is no progress, further said the Congress leader. These non-Congress leaders do not talk of removal of poverty. Instead they only talk about caste and religion. Central government has been sending funds in thousands of crore for implementation of welfare schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, National Rural Health Mission. But the money meant for poor people is not reaching the people. Highlighting that the money sent by Centre for the poor has been pocketed by corrupt politicians, Rahul Gandhi requested the people to vote for the Congress and assured that Congress (I) will provide responsible government which would work for their welfare and development of the state.
