Rahul Gandhi – leader of aam aadmi

The Congress certainly is in good spirits as they have now a new young, visionary, energetic and progressive mass leader in Rahul Gandhi, who instead of being intoxicated by the power and never hungry for any media hype, has the capability and interest to understand the people and realizing their issues. He always maintained that that leaders should go to the people, stay with them, share their meals and drink the polluted water from their well to realize the real issues of the poor. It is a well known fact that Rahul Gandhi, on many occasions, even set examples by doing what he has been preaching. He had surprised many with his unscheduled sudden visits to villages, interacting with the locals and even staying at their huts. The young leader also made it a routine to visit places whenever any untoward incidents took place.

He had visited Forbesganj in Bihar and Mawal in Maharashtra where people died of police firing. When Kalka mail accident took place he immediately visited the hospital to meet the accident victims. He had visited Bharatpur in Rajasthan where ten people from Muslim community were killed in the clashes with the police. Undoubtedly, these interventions helped to bring confidence among the people and gave them a hope that there is someone who stands with them and helps them in crisis.

The important thing is that Rahul Gandhi ensured that he delivers too. He visited Bhatta-Parsaul and other villages in Uttar Pradesh when the lands of poor farmers were wrongly acquired by the Mayawati Government. Rahul Gandhi immediately visited there to realize the seriousness of the issues and took the initiative to draft a new Land Acquisition Bill by the cabinet. When he noticed the threat of Japan Encephalitis in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh, he immediately intervened and a team led by the Union Health Minister was sent to take stock of the situation.

Further, he visited drought-hit Bundelkhand region to ascertain himself the gravity of the situation and made sure that a Rs. 3000 cr relief package for Bundelkhand is sanctioned by the Centre. He properly took initiative to release a Rs. 6000 cr package to the Bunkars in Banaras. Rahul Gandhi played a role to force the Central Government to take a decision that not only ministers but their siblings and relatives also shall have to disclose their assets. As per the information gathered through RTI, in a total of seventeen letters he sent to the Prime Minister, he had addressed this issue and also several others including the relief and reconstruction efforts undertaken by the Government in flood-ravaged Leh, the problems of Sri Lankan Tamils and Tamil refugees in Tamil Nadu.

Rahul Gandhi rightly asserts that India can achieve much through its young blood. He also has been insisting that unless democracy reaches the grass root level, country cannot progress. His father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took India to the top list of the fast growing countries in the world with his modern vision and now his son follows his legendary father’s footsteps to see the country scaling new heights.
