Slamming Mayawati and Mulayam Singh Yadav as well as BJP for having ruled the state by putting out false promises over the last 22 years, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these non-Congress parties cheated the people in the state. These non-Congress parties try to dupe the people by terming the honest efforts of Congress (I) to serve the people as drama, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting in Pratapgarh as part of his Congress campaign in UP. Pointing out the welfare and development polices of Congress (I)-led UPA government, Rahul Gandhi said that Mayawati has called MNREGA – a guaranteed employment scheme for the poor – a drama. “She even calls my visits to the villages a drama”, further said Rahul Gandhi.
“If visiting villages is a drama then I will keep doing that throughout my life” declared the Congress leader. Blaming these non-Congress parties for following caste-based politics in the state, Rahul Gandhi said they failed to address the issues of the aam aadmi.
Arguing that despite 22 years of rule by these non-Congress parties there is no development and the condition of the people remain as before in the state of UP, Rahul Gandhi told the people to vote for a change this time and assured that Congress will work for welfare of the people and development of the state.
