Rahul Gandhi is a dynamic leader with progressive vision

The Congress and its General Secretary Rahul Gandhi is under severe attack at present after the reported statements of Union Minister Salman Khurshid. But the charges leveled against Rahul Gandhi are baseless and untrue.

The Congress should feel happy that they have a new progressive mass leader in Rahul Gandhi who instead of being intoxicated by the power and never media hungry, has the capability and interest to understand the people and realizing their pain. He always argued that the leaders should go to the people, stay with them, share their meals and drink the polluted water from their well to realize the pain of the poor. Rahul Gandhi, on many occasions, set an example by doing what he has been saying. He has surprised many with his unscheduled sudden visits to villages, interacting with the locals and even staying at their huts. He also made it a practice to visit the places where people are suffering.

He had visited Forbesganj in Bihar and Mawal in Maharashtra where people died of police firing. When Kalka mail accident took place he immediately visited the hospital to meet the accident victims. He had visited Bharatpur in Rajasthan where ten people from Muslim community were killed in the clash with the police. Rahul Gandhi’s such visits boosted the confidence among the people and gave them a hope that there is someone who stands with them and helps them in crisis.

The most important point is that Rahul Gandhi on many occasions ensured positive results whenever he intervenes. He had visited Bhatta-Parsaul and other villages in Uttar Pradesh when there wer allegations of forcible land grabbing by the then Mayawati government. Many people including women were assaulted by the police. The Congress MP immediately visited there to take stock of the things and took the initiative to draft a new Land Acquisition Bill by the Union cabinet When the Japan Encephalitis spread across UP, mainly in the Gorakhpur district, where a number of children had died because of the dreaded disease, he immediately made a positive intervention and a Central team led by the Union Health Minister was sent to the state to ascertain the situation.

When Bundelkhand in Uttar Pradesh was badly hit by drought and the people were in utmost trouble, Rahul Gandhi visited the region to understand the gravity of the situation. Because of his initiative the Central government allotted a relief package of Rs. 3000 cr for Bundelkhand. When he came to know that the weavers in Banaras had been facing troubles, he properly took up the matter with the Central government and the Congress-led UPA government sanctioned Rs. 6000 cr package as immediate relief. He played a crucial role to force the Union Government to take a decision that along with the ministers their siblings and relatives also shall have to disclose their assets. As per the information gathered through RTI, he had written around seventeen letters on various issues to the Prime Minister.

Rahul Gandhi has been insisting that unless democracy reaches the grass root level, country cannot progress. His father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi took India to the top list of the global Nations with his modern vision and now his son, Rahul Gandhi, follows his legendary father’s footsteps to see the country scaling new heights.
