Rahul Gandhi’s interactive style helps him to connect with the people

During his recent Congress campaign for the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, the All India Congress Committee General Secretary Rahul Gandhi put before the poor and the Congress workers the true picture of the state. The Congress leader described to them the problems the people of UP have been facing since two decades.

With his charm and words Rahul connected with thousands of Congress workers and common people who turned up at workers meet wherever he goes and it was evident when he visited the districts of Bahraich and Shravasti in northern UP. The people had assembled in large numbers and the atmosphere was filled with more enthusiasm.

“We (Congress) brought the MGNREGA for you. The MGNREGA is the world’s largest employment programme. You go to Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and ask the poor. They will say the MGNREGA is very beneficial for them. It’s the best ever welfare programme in India. It’s not just a programme but a right. There’s 100 days of work – which means Rs. 12,000 in a year considering Rs. 120 for a day,” said the Youth Congress icon.

A Congress worker from Gokulpur in Bahraich was very confident of Congress’ and Rahul Gandhi’s abilities. “I think and I know Congress will do the right work. I’m not getting pension. What can I do? No body does anything. And, I’m 70 years old, how much will I remember.”
