Rahul Gandhi: BSP, SP misleading public with promises
Attacking Mayawati’s BSP and Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP for rampant corruption and irregularities in their tenures as chief ministers, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these non-Congress leaders always fooled the people with empty promises during every election. During the past five years, neither Mayawati nor Mulayam visited any village they were making lofty promises during their poll campaigns, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing a public meeting at Jaunpur as part of his Congress campaign. The people gave these non-Congress parties enough time to deliver on their promises but they failed each time, further said the congress MP from Amethi. Informing about the Congress led Centre’s Rs 8,000 crore worth relief package for the Bundelkhand region, Rahul Gandhi said that the tractors meant to farmers did not reach them but were taken away by BSP ministers. Pointing out the serious unemployment in the state Rahul Gandhi said he stands with the youth to work for progress and development. The Congress leader said “I will continue to fight for the cause of poor farmers and labourers till their migration to other states ceases.” Rahul Gandhi repeated his promise to change the state in five years time if his party was voted to power in UP. Urging the people to support Congress (I), Rahul Gandhi assured that Congress would provide corruption-free government and bring development in the state in five years.
