Rahul Gandhi questions Mulayam Singh’s offer to grant 28% reservation for Muslims

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Samajwadi Party President Mulayam Singh Yadav's offer to grant 28% reservation for Muslims.

"Mulayam Singh Yadav says that reservation given to Muslims by the Congress is not adequate. He himself was the Chief Minister of the state for three terms but did nothing and when Rashid Masood raised this matter he was expelled", Rahul Gandhi said while speaking at a big Congress rally in Uttar Pradesh as part of his Congress campaign.

"Mulayam Ji says that he will give 28 per cent quota. The Supreme Court has said that this is not possible but still he is offering it. He thinks that people in the state understand nothing", said the Congress General Secretary.

"Mulayam Singh promises to provide power, water and quota and think that people would know nothing. Though he makes promises but when it is time to fight for the rights of the people he does nothing", Rahul Gandhi said. Rahul Gandhi also reminded the people, "Mulayam Singh was the Chief Minister thrice. There was a scam in the supply of food grains sent through the PDS under his regime".

The Congress General Secretary asserted that the biggest problem today is that leaders do not go to the people. "These leaders from the non-Congress parties make promises during elections and forget the people and promises after elections", said Rahul Gandhi.

Once again questioning Mulayam’s promise to provide free electricity Rahul Gandhi said that the reality is that in the past 22 years not a single power plant has been built in the state. The Congress leader said that people with noble intentions would not give false promises. Rahul Gandhi added that he has come to bring in positive changes in UP. "There was no one to hear you but now I am here to listen to you. I will not leave you till development reach back in Uttar Pradesh ", promised Rahul Gandhi.
