Rahul Gandhi: It is the people who develop the country, not the political parties

While addressing a massive Congress rally at Meerut as part of his campaign in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that it is not the political parties but the people of the country bring development. “My intention is pure and so will make hollow promises, but will promise you only one thing that a government of aam aadmi like we did it at the Centre,” Rahul Gandhi said. The congress leader added that that the 22 years misrule by the non-Congress parties in UP blocked the development and dragged the state backwards.

Reminding the people about the 2004 Parliament elections Rahul Gandhi said “During the campaign for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections while non-Congress parties showered lots of hollow promises Congress had promised only one thing - a government of aam aadmi that works for poor, farmers, minorities, dalits and adivasis and we delivered it”.

“But BJP brought out a slogan in English ‘India Shining. They told that they picked it from a television advertisement. They were in power for five years. But they did not go to people, talked to them or enquired about their problems, still believed blindly that India was shining,” said the Congress General Secretary taking a dig at BJKP and NDA.

Rahul Gandhi assured that a Congress Government can bring back the lost glory of Uttar Pradesh and hoped that UP will become the number one state in ten years under a Congress government.
