Attacking Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party for exploiting the minority, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these parties did nothing for welfare of the Muslims. The minority community is facing socio-economic problems which have not been attended by these parties, said Rahul Gandhi while addressing public meetings in Etawah and Kanpur for the Assembly elections. Had these parties looked after their issues there would not have been educational backwardness among Muslims, he further said. But Congress (I)-led UPA government at the centre has provided scholarship to minority students to encourage education among them, he added.
Explaining Congress (I) concern for welfare and socio-economic development of Muslim community, Rahul Gandhi said Congress (I) has given them 4.5% quota for reservation in government and education institutions. Mulayam says that he would have done more but he did not give them anything during his three tenures as CM, he added. Urging the people to vote for his party, Rahul Gandhi assured that Congress (I) government would ensure welfare and socio-economic development of Muslim community.
