Mystery of Mayawati’s wealth: Rahul Gandhi

Flaying Mayawati for running most corrupt government in the country, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she has been busy in making money for herself instead of providing good governancde. Bribe is the prime mover in her government, he said while campaigning for the upcoming Assembly elections. CBI is already investigating a case against her for owning wealth disproportionate to her known sources of income. The CBI says she failed to explain how her wealth increased from Rs 1.35 crore to Rs 52 crore in three years. She had declared her assets as Rs 1.35 crore in 2004. In 2007 Assembly elections, she declared her assets as Rs 52 crore. She claims that she got money from party workers as donations. But why did such gifts and donations go into her personal account instead of the party account, asked Congress (I). This explains why her government is running more like a trading company where deals are struck between brokers and her ministers at the cost of the people. While she was thus become richer by many times in the short period, she has put the state under public debt of Rs 2,00,000 crores, said Congress (I).
