Mayawati shunned the poor, helped the rich: Rahul Gandhi

Blaming Mayawati for not attending to the problems of the poor, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said she does not like to meet the poor. She became chief ministers by the votes of the poor and then shut the door upon them, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning for the ongoing Assembly elections. “Did Mayawati visit your village during the last five years? Did she meet any of you or bothered to know your problems?” he asked the audience. Pat came the loud reply ‘NO’. “I visit the houses of the poor; I interact with them to understand their problems and find solutions,” he further said. “But Mayawati and other parties call it a ‘natak’,” he added. “They mock at me because they have never visited the houses of the poor nor seen their sufferings,” he said. Highlighting that Mayawati is making use of the poor to remain in power, Rahul Gandhi urged the people to get rid of her rule. He appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) and assured that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will work for their welfare.
