Congress (I) delivers what it says: Rahul Gandhi

Blaming regional parties like BSP and SP as well as BJP for putting out big promises to the people over the last 22 years without fulfilling none, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that Congress (I) delivers what it says. These parties make tall promises and disappear when the time comes to implement them, Rahul Gandhi said while campaigning in Bulandshahr. “We do not give promises which we cannot fulfill,” he emphasised. “In 2004 we had promised aam admi government and when Congress (I)-led UPA formed government at the centre we brought MGNREGA scheme,” he further said. It provides jobs to the rural poor for minimum 100 days @ Rs 120/- per day which works out to Rs 12,000/- to each person. This job scheme has changed the life of poor in Congress (I) ruled states like Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Haryana. Now the poor there have got job, income and respectable social status. But Mayawati failed to implement this in UP thus depriving the poor the benefits of this welfare scheme. To help farmers, loan waver scheme was brought while Bunkars (weavers) have been given credit facility from government banks. Assuring the people that his party is already working on many more pro-people schemes, Rahul Gandhi appealed the people to vote for Congress (I) so that it could make available the benefits of the welfare and development schemes to the people of UP.
