Blaming UP Chief Minister for opposing Food Security Bill, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that Food Security Bill would provide food to the poorest sections of the society. The Bill would ensure that millions in UP would receive 35 kgs of food grain. Though the greatest beneficiaries would be Dalits, Mayawati considers this a drama, he said. "She thinks no one will benefit from it," said Rahul. He highlighted to the crowd that his purpose wasn't merely winning elections, but that he wanted to change the face of UP by removing poverty and backwardness. He asked the people to place their trust in the Congress Party, and vote for the party. "We have people who work. All we need is your trust," he said. Rahul Gandhi reminded the audience that in case of MNREGA scheme also which provides guaranteed employment and income for the poor, Mayawati had opposed it while it has proved tremendous successful in Congress (I) ruled states.
