Addressing a Congress workers’ meet at Jalalabad in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the non-Congress governments in UP, during the past 22 years, have pulled the state backwards. On the third day of the second phase of Congress’ Campaign in the run up to the upcoming assembly polls in the state Rahul Gandhi promised that a Congress government will lead Uttar Pradesh back to the top position again.
Recalling his late father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, who created a revolution in the fields of Information Technology Telecom and Computers, Rahul Gandhi continued “It was because Rajiv Gandhi the computers and mobiles reached you. He planned it 20 years ago and you are availing the benefits today. This is called a policy with long term vision” he added.”
Taking a dig at Mulayam Singh Yadav for his anti-computer and anti-English stand Rahul Gandhi added “Mulayam Singh Yadavji had said that there would be no use with English or Computers. When the entire world is being benefitted by the Computers and English, he said that there is no use”. “The poor people were denied of the benefits of Computers or English. They are afraid that if the poor get access to English they will surge ahead and they will question their sectarian ideologies” he added.
