CAG Report criticizes Mayawati govt’s financial management: Congress (I)

Referring to CAG report criticizing Uttar Pradesh’s financial management, Congress (I) has lashed out at chief minister Mayawati for bringing about near bankruptcy situation in the state. Financial position of the state is so bad that Mayawati government has been running on loans. Congress (I) has said to pay the pending outgoings the state has been raising loans. As per CAG report for the financial year 2008-09 Mayawati government used 97% of loan amount to meet the current commitments. The CAG has also found that individual head of accounts are also not been maintained satisfactorily. There is lack of coordination and different schemes run by the state are not being supervised properly, said Congress (I). As a result there is a scope for irregularities and numbers of such cases have been pointed out by the CAG in its report. Congress (I) has highlighted that Mayawati government is responsible for the bad financial situation of the state.
