Sonia Gandhi “Navodaya Vidyalayas - vision of Rajiv Gandhi”

Congress President Sonia Gandhi recently on a visit to Raebareli laid the foundation stone of Navodaya Vidyalaya Sports Complex. Addressing the gathering on the occasion she said that India is a country of villages. More than 70 per cent of the country’s population resides in the villages where the parents don’t have sufficient money to pay for their school fees. This results in the children being deprived of quality education. Congress President said, “Rajiv Gandhi Ji not only worked for the overall development of the country but also strived to ensure better education for the children coming from the underprivileged strata. Navodaya Vidyalaya is the outcome of his vision as the prime minister of the country. At present about 2 lakh students are getting quality education in 600 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya spread across the country. Most studying at these schools belongs to the poor and backward sections of the society.”
