Corruption has dented Mayawati’s image: Congress (I)

Congress (I) has said Chief Minister Mayawati has removed corrupt ministers in her cabinet only to make-up her dented image for the coming Assembly elections in early 2012. She is now projecting herself as an iron lady who is strongly against corruption in the state. But Congress (I) has pointed out that her inaction in many cases has dealt a terrible blow to her image. For instance, Ratan Lal Ahirwar, minister in Mayawati government, was convicted under the Arms Act by a Madhya Pradesh court on July 5, 2010. He was arrested for carrying illegal firearm. Two cases, including attempt to murder and land grabbing, are pending against him. Mayawati has not taken any action against Ahirwar. Again no action has been taken against MLA from Bilsi in Budaun, Yogendra Sagar. He was declared 'absconder' by the police in a kidnapping and rape case. The incident occurred in 2008 but local police did not take any action. However image make-up she might attempt, Mayawati is going to face the music of her inaction against corruption in the state, said Congress (I).
