It was a surprise to the Dal Lake vendors when Rahul Gandhi visited them and enquired about their problems. The Congress General Secretary, who is on a two-day visit to the Valley, interacted with the vendors who gather at the vegetable market on Dal Lake at the crack of dawn. During the interaction, some of the vegetable sellers recalled the visit of Rajiv Gandhi to the Lake in 1984.
After exchanging pleasantries and hearing their problems, Rahul went to the house of Ghulam Rasool where he had 'Kahwa' (green tea) and listened to the various issues concerning Dal residents.
Rasool is one of the leaders of Dal residents who have been protesting against the state government's compensation for relocating them.
