Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi visit Amethi; hold discussions with Congress workers

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, accompanied by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra visited Amethi, the Parliamentary of Rahul Gandhi. Both the Congress leaders held discussions with Congress leaders and workers in the region in a bid to strengthen the party in the constituency ahead of the coming Lok Sabha polls.

Priyanka Gandhi can definitely play big role in Indian politics

“Reject the leaders who reject you,” is what Priyanka Gandhi Vadra kept on telling the people during her campaign in Uttar Pradesh for the recently held assembly polls. This statement talks volumes. Yes, Priyanka Gandhi knows well how to convince people. The people give her a patient hearing. They loved to interact with her, talk to her and they feel happy to have a glimpse of their favourite leader. Like her brother Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi also loved to go to the people, interact with them to understand their grievances. She also argued that the leaders should go to the people to know their issues and if a leader stops going to the people, she asked the people, to reject him. She is right. In democracy the real power is in the hands of the people. That is what she always tried to tell the people.

When Priyanka Gandhi was given the responsibility to look after the affairs in Amethi and Raebareli during the last UP assembly polls, she could handle it in a quite appreciable manner. All her public meetings - she preferred to address small gatherings at maximum places – attracted a good number of enthusiastic crowd. No one can be blamed if they compare her with Late Indira Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi, they say, is having the same charisma and potential, quite similar to late Congress leader – Indira Gandhi.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had urged the people to ‘think properly and intelligently before casting your votes” - a clear message to remind the people about the strength of votes. She could help people to learn about their role in a democracy. They could realise after listening to Priyanka Gandhi that if people want a change, they can do so. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra urges to cast vote to change the politics and state Government

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who has been campaigning in Raebareli, has urged the voters to change the politics and change the state Government by electing Congress candidates in the ongoing assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Listing out the failure of the present state Government in U.P while addressing an election meeting at the Unchahar assembly segment in Raebareli, Priyanka Gandhi said that it was not fulfilling its responsibility to the people.

“To mitigate the scarcity of water in this region, most of the water canals were repaired and cleaned by the Centre. But still there is no water available. It is the responsibility of the state Government to provide water. Similarly the Centre sends fertilizers to Uttar Pradesh and the state Government has the responsibility for its proper distribution. But the state Government does not perform this duty in the required manner and as a result the farmers are not able to get the fertilizers. I can list out a number of examples like this. It is very evident that the state Government is not fulfilling its responsibility towards the people properly,” she said.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra campaigns out of Amethi, Raebareli

For the first time Priyanka Gandhi Vadra campaigned outside Amethi and Raebareli, constituencies of her mother Sonia Gandhi and brother Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi was seen along with her brother and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi during a a road show in Sultapur to seek support for Congress. Priyanka Gandhi also attended a meeting at Lambhua in Uttar Pradesh which was addressed by the Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi told the gathering that he was fighting to bring in changes in Uttar Pradesh. Addressing the youth the Congress General Secretary said that his target was not to attain any post, but Congress' agenda was to give youths employment in UP itself.

After the joint meeting, Priyanka Gandhi continued with her roadshow at more than 12 places, covering a distance of more than 60 kilometres. She also addressed an election meeting at Barausa. She said that Uttar Pradesh did not see development as there was no Congress government for the last 22 years. "Elect Congress candidates and form a Congress government for the development of the state," Priyanka Gandhi said.

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra: Politician should be your servant

While addressing an election meeting at Amethi’s Balbhadrapur region, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said that a politician should be a servant of the people. She was on her second leg of campaign for the Congress in Amethi and Raebareli, the constituencies of Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi respectively.

“Who is a leader? He should be your servant. He should have been among you and not on the stage. It is very sad that you are forced to beg for your rights,” Priyanka Gandhi said.

“When you will realize this? When you will wake up? You suffered for the past 22 years. They betrayed you in the name of caste and religion. Where is the development here? You go to Maharashtra or Andhra Pradesh and experience the progress there. You can understand what the meaning of development is. Young people of Uttar Pradesh are forced to go to those places and work there,” wondered Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

“During elections many parties and leaders come to you. I also do come (laughs). But you have the wisdom to understand the real intention of the parties and its leaders. You have the strength. Nothing will happen without the power of the people. The assembly elections are on 15^th February. Think for a positive change and think about strengthening Congress. You will have a MLA who understands your problems and to solve those.” Priyanka Gandhi concluded.
