Sonia Gandhi while addressing an election rally in Moradabad said that the Centre made a number of schemes for the development of U.P and sent thousands of crores of rupees to the state under various schemes. “The Government at the Centre sent more than one lakh crore rupees to Uttar Pradesh. But it is a matter of great concern that the people of Uttar Pradesh could not avail the benefits. All these funds were swindled out in corruption and scams. Rahul Gandhi: Mayawati is against the interests of dalits and poor

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi who led the Congress campaign in Uttar Pradesh accused BSP supremo Mayawati for depriving the dalits and poor the benefits of various welfare schemes of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. Slamming her for the misuse of Central government sponsored employment scheme Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MNREGA) scheme, the Congress (I) leader said that Mayawati has been working against the interests of aam aadmi, dalits and poor.

She just pretends to be the protector of Dalits, she did nothing for the dalits and poor, Rahul Gandhi argued. Rahul Gandhi reminded the people about the stance of Mayawati that Congress led central government sponsored MNREGA scheme which guarantees employment to dalits and poor in rural areas would not be useful. “But now Mayawati is saying that if she comes to power at the Centre changes would be brought in the MGNREGA to give employment to jobless people all the 365 days in a year” commented Rahul Gandhi. This exposes the hypocrisy of the inconsistent stand taken Mayawati government, added the Congress General Secretary. This confirms that Mayawati is not sincere towards the welfare of dalits and poor, said Rahul Gandhi.
