Rahul Gandhi slams SP in Lalitpur

Kick-starting the fifth phase of his campaign for Congress for the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh All India congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the non-Congress parties who ruled the state for the past 22 years put full stop on development in Uttar Pradesh.

This is the money of your sweat and blood. This money is not of the Congress party, SP, BSP or Rahul Ji. This money is the result of hard work of farmers and labourers from UP in Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. If the country is developing it is because of your efforts, your blood and sweat,” said Rahul Gandhi amidst applauds.

Taking on Samajwadi Party Rahul Gandhi continued “I saw the poster ‘umeed ki Cycle’ on my way. You voted for Cycle for three times. Three times Mulayam Ji was your Chief Minister. But your trust got punctured three times. It punctured your future. It promised development but the goons were running the police stations. It was a complete goondaraj under its regime. No one was able to file FIR in police stations. How can you trust Cycle again?” he argued.

Rahul Gandhi: Congress launched welfare schemes in UP

Criticising Mayawati for doing nothing for dalits, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that the Congress has brought welfare schemes for the people of Uttar Pradesh. Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) scheme provides minimum 100 days employment guarantee in rural areas.

Rahul Gandhi also explained about the benefits of the scheme. “The scheme provides employment to the poor in their own villages. At Rs 120 per day x 100 days it works out to minimum Rs 12,000. This has given the poor employment, income and respectable status in society”, said Rahul Gandhi adding that Mayawati had called MNREGA would not be useful for the poor.

Similarly Janani Saurakha Yojana (Safe Motherhood Delivery) under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) provides for free institutional delivery of pregnant women. But Mayawati’s ministers looted the money for these schemes thus depriving the poor of their rights, said Rahul Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi: The elephant in Lucknow eats money meant for poor people

AICC Gneral Secretary Rahul Gandhi repeated his comment that the magic elephant in Lucknow gobbles up the money meant for the poor. While campaigning for the Congress in the poll bound Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said that while all other elephants eat grass or leaves, Mayawati’s elephant in Lucknow eats up currency notes.

Flaying Chief Minister Mayawati for corruption in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi while recently addressing a public meeting said, “The elephant in Lucknow is eating your money. We send money for the people, but it does not reach them in UP." Instead it is being pocketed by corrupt BSP ministers. To deflect the issue of non-performance and not undertaking development in the state Mayawati was putting up an excuse of shortage of funds. But her lie was exposed by the Comptroller and the Auditor General of India report. The report said Mayawati government failed to utilize even 10% of the special package sanctioned by Centre for development of Bundelkhand. The CAG report also criticized her for diverting the funds meant for welfare scheme to altogether different schemes. Assuring the people to put an end to all this Rahul Gandhi has promised that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will fulfill the expectations of the people.
