Rahul Gandhi: Bundelkhand funds went to minister’s kids

Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that the non-Congress parties who ruled the state for the past 22 years never concerned about the poor and the development in the state. As a result the most populous state of Uttar Pradesh is one of the most backward states now concerned the Congress leader.

Attacking Mayawati and her Government in UP for the misuse of the relief package sanctioned by the Centre for the drought-hit Bundelkhand, Rahul Gandhi went on to say “When I again visited Bundelkhand the farmers informed me that the funds sent for them were looted by the state Government. The money was meant for relief works like construction of wells. I asked my fellow workers to take me to the places where the construction of wells was taking place. I was surprised to see that the wells were only half built. When asked I was told that the well was half-built as only the half-share given by the farmers were used, the balance was to be paid by the state Government but that money never reached the poor farmers”.

“The Centre sent enough funds. The funds sent under the Bundelkhand relief package for the tractors went to the ministers or their children, and so never benefited the poor in the region” said Rahul Gandhi. “This problems is not only in Bundelkhand but the entire state is having the same bad state of affairs. The Congress led Central Government sent huge amount of funds under various schemes like MNREGA and NRHM but all these were looted by the Maya Government. Mayawati’s magic elephant in Luck gobbles up the funds meant for the poor. It eats currency notes instead of leaves,” said Rahul Gandhi sarcastically and people welcomed it with huge cheers.
