Rahul Gandhi talks about the poor, not caste and religion

Lashing out against parties like BSP, SP and BJP for centering their politics about caste and religion, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said, “We do not talk about caste or religion, we talk about people without distinction of caste or religion, we talk of development.” “I get angry when I see UP lagging behind the rest of the country,” he told the audience while addressing public meetings for the ongoing Assembly elections 2012. He reminded the people that Uttar Pradesh was once the leading state in the country under Congress (I) rule which brought mega projects in the state. He said the people were happy, every one was getting employment. But when the caste based politics took over everything changed. The regional leaders like Mulayam Singh Yadav and Mayawati fooled the people with promises and cornered the public money for themselves instead of spending on the public. As a result development stopped and now there is nobody to care for the poor, said Rahul Gandhi. Highlighting that this trend will not stop unless the people reject these leaders, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to give chance to his party to form government. He assured that Congress (I) would work for the people without discrimination of caste or religion and turn the face of the state in next ten years. He further assured that they would be able to see the change for themselves in next five years.
