Mayawati licked clean Bundelkhand packhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifage: Rahul Gandhi

Flaying Mayawati for miserable plight of people of Bundelkhand, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said that her corrupt government did not even spare the drought hit region and licked clean the Bundelkhand special package for the poor. The Comptroller and Auditor General of India too had criticized Mayawati government for fraud in implementation of centrally sponsored welfare schemes in the state. For instance Mayawati organised a special Bundelkhand plantation drive. The project envisaged planting of 10 crore plants but it was marred by a number of irregularities. An approval from the Centre for deviating from the norms was not obtained. Plants were transported without entering into any agreement with transporters. Rates were approved after transportation was completed. Trees stated to have been planted and those found on the ground did not tally. When the matter was referred to Mayawati government it said plantation drive for 10 crore plants was launched due to heavy pre-monsoon rains and a large number of saplings perished afterwards. However, there was no response to anomalies in payments. Such excuses and silence confirms large scale corruption in her government, said Rahul Gandhi.
