Making good governance and development the central issue of his attack on the regional parties like BSP, SP and BJP, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these parties have been ruling the state alternatively by offering false promises to the people. Each of these parties looked after the interests of their group, did their tenure and left without doing anything for the people, said Rahul Gandhi while on campaign trail in the poll bound state. BJP did nothing except talking about mandir. Then Mulayam Singh Yadav came and played caste card which benefited only 10% of the people leaving 90% out, he further said and added that angry people, trusting Mayawati, brought her to power but she turned out to be worst. She made the most of this opportunity to make money by blinking abject corruption in her government. The people are not willing to be put off any more with promises; they want development not promises, said Rahul Gandhi. There is no dearth of funds for development but these leaders are more interested to help themselves with public money rather than put it on developmental activities which would benefit the people, he said. That explains why Congress (I)-led UPA government brought welfare and development schemes like Rs 60,000 crore MNREGA, Rs 10,000 crore NRHM etc failed to reach the people as all the money was swallowed by BSP elephant in Lucknow. Urging the people that the work which Congress (I) has done speak for its resolve to develop UP, Rahul Gandhi asked the people to “gove us five years and see what chance we can bring in the state.”
