Rahul Gandhi: Successive non-Congress govts looted UP

Blaming parties like BJP, BSP and SP for ruling the state over the last two decades without attending to the issues of the people, Congress (I) General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has said these successive non-congress governments have looted the state. Uttar Pradesh is backward due to misrule of these parties, he said while campaigning for UP Assembly elections 2012. Theses parties have been playing politics with the people rather than for the people, he further said adding that Congress (I)-led UPA government at the centre has been sending schemes for development of UP. For instance MNREGA Scheme was sent for providing employment to the rural poor. But Mayawati BSP elephant in Lucknow ate up all the money. The poor got nothing. All other schemes like NRHM, Janani Sauraksha Yojana, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Mid Day Meals faltered due to corruption of these parties. While MNREGA scheme is tremendous success in Congress (I) ruled, in UP it is failure due to corruption in Mayawati government, said Rahul Gandhi. Highlighting that the only way to put a stop to this loot is to reject these parties, Rahul Gandhi urged the people this time to vote for Congress (I) and assured that it would provide a government that would be corruption-free, responsive to the needs of the people and put the state on path of progress and development.
