Flaying at Mayawati government for loot of funds meant for welfare schemes for the poor, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi said that her government is responsible for large frauds in central funds addressed to the poor in UP. The money is not reaching the poor, it disappeared in the way, said Rahul Gandhi. Poor got nothing while corrupt ministers of Mayawati filled their pockets. The Congress leader further said that MNREGA - an ambitious national employment guarantee scheme – is a flagship program of Congress (I)-led UPA government. It has been brought to alleviate poverty by generating employment opportunities in rural areas. Rahul Gandhi pointed out that while this program has been a roaring success in Congress ruled states; Mayawati government deprived the poor people the benefits of this welfare scheme. Rahul Gandhi assured the people that a government of the poor by Congress (I) will change this bad situation, if given chance to form government this time.
