Blaming Mayawati government for loot of central funds meant for implementing welfare schemes for poor in Uttar Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi has charged ministers in Mayawati for stealing the people’s money. Presently the Congress General Secretary is on public contract program in Central and Western UP. While addressing a public meeting at Gunnaur Rahul Gandhi said that Mayawati government is responsible for benefits of centrally funded welfare schemes not reaching the poor people. Rahul Gandhi reminded the audience that Mayawati had termed Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) as unnecessary program. MNREGA is very important scheme which provides minimum 100 days guaranteed employment to rural poor. Rahul Gandhi added that while there is acute unemployment in the state, the money for this program was misused by Mayawati government and did not reach the needed people for whom it was meant. Rahul Gandhi said this showed Mayawati had no interest in the welfare of the people.
