Congress(I) has set ablaze political activities in Karnataka with countering of BJP leader L K Advani's "Jan Chetana Yatra". Though, the much speculated rally of the BJP entered the party ruled state on Sunday, parallel to it the opposition Congress staged a rally demanding the saffron party’s latest political venture be scrapped and the Karnataka Assembly be dissolved.
The agitated Congress MLAs were demanding dissolution of the Assembly in view of corruption charges against the ruling party leaders. Addressing "Go Back Advani" protest at the Freedom Park, KPCC President G Parameshwar ridiculed Advani's yatra in view of the scandals rocking the BJP government in the Deccan state. The mammoth blame slashing the state BJP is not surprising as it has been vindicated in land scams of crores of rupees.
Parameshwar demanded Home Minister R Ashok's resignation in the light of an FIR filed against him in a land scam. He also accused the minister of failing to maintain law and order. He also took a dig at Advani for having former union minister Ananth Kumar as his companion in the yatra despite his name figuring in the HUDCO scam. "Is he protecting the corrupt?" Parameshwar asked.
The present political tussle has set a platform from where the state units of the arch-rivals have to be very conscious about the political moves they make lest high command frame them in any incompetency or irresponsible conduct.
